Abstract

The development of digital technology has opened new opportunities for learning media at various levels of education, including Church Formal Education (PFG). This study aims to explore the opportunities and challenges of utilizing interactive visual learning media based on digital design applications in the context of the Maluku Protestant Church (GPM) Sunday School. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through participatory observation, interviews, and literature study, this research found that digital design applications offer ease of access, flexibility in content creation, and visual appeal that can improve learning effectiveness. However, challenges such as limited technological infrastructure, accessibility gaps, and low digital skills among caregivers remain significant obstacles. This study recommends collaborative strategies among curriculum development teams, mentors, and caregivers, as well as the use of offline features to overcome limitations in internet access. The implications of this study are expected to enrich learning methods and strengthen the GPM PFG curriculum in responding to the challenges of the digital era.

 

Abstrak

Perkembangan teknologi digital telah membuka peluang baru dalam pengembangan media pembelajaran di berbagai jenjang pendidikan, termasuk Pendidikan Formal Gereja (PFG). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peluang dan tantangan pemanfaatan media pembelajaran visual interaktif berbasis aplikasi desain digital dalam konteks Sekolah Minggu Gereja Protestan Maluku (GPM). Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif melalui teknik observasi partisipatif, wawancara, dan studi literatur, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa aplikasi desain digital menawarkan kemudahan akses, fleksibilitas dalam pembuatan konten, serta daya tarik visual yang dapat meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran. Namun, tantangan seperti keterbatasan infrastruktur teknologi, kesenjangan aksesibilitas, dan rendahnya keterampilan digital pengasuh masih menjadi hambatan signifikan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan strategi kolaboratif antara tim pengembang kurikulum, pembimbing, dan pengasuh, serta pemanfaatan fitur offline untuk mengatasi keterbatasan akses internet. Implikasi penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya metode pembelajaran dan memperkuat kurikulum PFG GPM dalam menjawab tantangan era digital.
